Top SchoolJon Gubman is a seasoned software engineer and engineering leader with 14 years of experience designing and scaling high-traffic consumer platforms. He led IGN’s engineering organization through a full tech-stack modernization—migrating legacy PHP and APIs to Next.js, Apollo GraphQL, Node.js, and PostgreSQL—while improving developer velocity, retention, and key site metrics for an audience of 250M monthly users. Jon pairs hands-on full‑stack development skills (React, Node, PostgreSQL, AWS) with proven people and budget management, hiring across seniority levels and integrating acquisitions. He’s delivered measurable product and operational improvements—cutting support incidents at LegalZoom from 30% to 10% and lowering IGN’s costs by modernizing infrastructure. Based in Sausalito, he blends editorial, ad tech and commerce domain experience from media startups to large publishers, and has a background in teaching and mentoring that helps upskill teams. Notably, he consistently drives build-vs-buy decisions and vendor integrations to align engineering roadmaps with business outcomes.
