Top SchoolJonathan Fontanez is an AI engineering lead and seasoned technology executive with nearly two decades of experience building full-stack, cloud-native systems and leading distributed teams. He has driven measurable outcomes as a CTO—cutting production bugs by 40%, slashing AWS spend by over $100k, and reducing turnover from 75% to 3% through mentoring and burnout management. Hands-on across Node.js, Next.js, WebRTC, WebSockets, and AWS services, he splits time between architecture and coding, historically spending 20–50% of CTO time building microservices and real-time analytics. Now leading AI engineering at This Dot Labs and launching Tycho Dynamics for AI-driven automation, he blends applied AI experimentation with robust operational practices. Known for improving developer experience via local sandboxes, OpenAPI adoption, and office hours, he mentors teams to ship reliable, secure systems at scale. Based in Raleigh, he pairs pragmatic engineering with a people-first leadership style that drives retention and velocity.
