Top SchoolJoris Eekhout is a hydrologist and geomorphologist with 11 years of research experience, currently a postdoctoral researcher at Universidad de Murcia after a decade at CEBAS-CSIC studying the hydrological and geomorphological impacts of sustainable land management in semiarid Mediterranean catchments. He holds a PhD from Wageningen University where his work on stream restoration and early morphological adaptation informed practical recommendations for lowland river projects. Joris combines process-based modelling—linking hydrological models with soil-erosion modules—with field observation to evaluate catchment-scale interventions and their long-term stability. Beyond academia he translates scientific results for broader audiences through responsive web design, infographics and data visualisations, a skillset he developed post-PhD to improve research outreach. Colleagues value him for bridging rigorous field- and model-based science with accessible communication tailored to practitioners and the public.
