Software Engineer at Meta
Union City, California, United States
Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolJose Hernandez is a software engineer with nine years of experience building products at scale, currently contributing to Meta after roles at Lyft and internships across Meta, Microsoft, and Facebook. He combines a formal CS/engineering education from Politecnico di Milano and Instituto Politécnico Nacional with hands-on experience shipping mobile and web features, database objects, and diagnostic tooling used by millions of users and internal teams. At Meta he has moved from intern projects—like Messenger Tools Hub and recurring notifications—to full-time engineering work, and at Lyft he focused on risk and loss for Express Drive. Known for pragmatic improvements to design, queries, and experiment reviews, he pairs product-minded engineering with a focus on measurable impact and performance optimizations. Based in Union City, CA, he’s an avid self-improver who describes himself wryly as a “dummy programmer” learning continuously and surprisingly dislikes voice clips in his free time.
