Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolJosef Karthauser is a seasoned technology leader and founder with over a decade building infrastructure-heavy products, currently serving as CTO and co-founder of TrueSpeed, a full-fibre broadband company that raised £175M. He combines deep systems and networking expertise—honed across roles from FreeBSD source control steward to architecting global services and ray-tracing clusters—with hands-on product delivery and team leadership. Josef’s background spans startups and engineering leadership positions where he implemented CI/CD, distributed version control, large-scale build systems and multi-threaded network optimisations. He also brings formal research training, holding a PhD in theoretical particle physics and cosmology, which informs his analytical approach to complex technical problems. A long-time open-source contributor and former FreeBSD core project maintainer, he has experience managing large, asynchronous developer communities and running governance processes. Based in Bath, UK, Josef pairs entrepreneurial grit with low-level technical depth to turn infrastructure challenges into commercially scalable services.
