Senior🎓
Top SchoolJoseph Lei is a seasoned cloud and AI/ML practice lead at Google with 11 years of experience applying data science, NLP, and machine learning to public sector challenges. He progressed from hands-on data scientist and civil servant roles in California government to customer- and solutions-facing engineering and product leadership at Google, specializing in Cloud AI, Translation, Vision, and generative AI for SLED customers. Joseph blends deep applied analytics—large-scale SAS/Teradata work and open-data platform launches—with product ownership and technical customer engagement, helping agencies modernize services and reduce vendor lock-in. Known for pragmatic automation (e.g., widely reused SAS macros that saved government analyst hours and taxpayer dollars), he translates complex technical tradeoffs into operational outcomes. Based in Mountain View, he pairs public-sector domain expertise with Google Cloud product fluency to drive adoption of AI-first solutions in government.
