Top SchoolJoseph Mundackal is an engineering leader and systems-focused software developer with over a decade of hands-on experience and two years in formal engineering leadership roles. Based in New York, he currently serves on the Ceph Steering Committee shaping governance and strategic direction for a major open-source storage project while leading engineering teams at Bloomberg. His background spans embedded C/C++ for set-top boxes, large-scale software delivery, and mentoring engineers, combining low-level systems expertise with practical leadership in production environments. Joseph holds advanced computer science training and a strong computer engineering foundation from Purdue and Colorado, enabling him to bridge architectural design and implementation effectively. Unusually, he pairs governance-level open-source stewardship with day-to-day team leadership—bringing both policy-making and trenches experience to distributed systems and infrastructure initiatives.
