Top SchoolJosh Tompkins is a Distinguished Engineer based in Austin with 15+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering large-scale, user-facing architectures across .NET, Java, Ruby, Node, and React ecosystems. At Charles Schwab he led the Alto initiative, now a service fabric of nearly 100 REST APIs handling millions of daily requests, and rebuilt governance, hiring, and mentoring programs for a 1,200-person organization. He combines deep implementation instincts—prototyping full-stack solutions and client-side work in Angular/React—with executive-level influence, defending architecture to CTOs and shaping product and talent strategies. Comfortable speaking publicly and ramping quickly on new stacks, he’s equally at home writing interview guides and shipping CI/CD, billing, and high-throughput ingestion systems. A linguistics graduate with a longtime appetite for diverse tech challenges, he even admits fried okra can derail his focus.
