Top SchoolJosh West is a Principal Engineer with 14 years of experience building and leading full-stack teams, currently focused on chat and AI integrations at ClickUp from his base in Oakland. He has a strong track record of architecting scalable web platforms and evolving monolithic systems into service-oriented, containerized architectures—work honed across leadership roles at The Atlantic and the productivity startup 'nuffsaid. Josh blends hands-on Python/Django development and backend performance ownership with hiring, mentoring, and process improvements that boosted team throughput and cut CI times dramatically. He’s practical about security and developer experience, introducing secret management, modern Docker local environments, and streamlined CI/CD for faster delivery. Beyond engineering, he brings product-minded judgement from shipping major publisher features (AMP, paywall, CDN edge logic) and a surprising attention to craft—he can pull a decent espresso.
