Senior🎓
Top SchoolJoshua James is a senior software engineer specializing in humanoid robotics, control systems, and perception with 11 years of hands-on experience building and shipping robot software for platforms from Atlas to commercial humanoids at Apptronik. He combines deep ROS expertise, low-level embedded control, and planners for locomotion and manipulation, having authored novel IK solvers, controller-switching systems, and fast point-cloud compressors during DARPA Robotics Challenge work. As a founder of Additive Robotics he bridged hardware and software—designing actuators, PCBs, and control stacks—so he speaks fluently across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Based in Austin, he focuses on control and planning for humanoids, UAVs, UGVs, spacecraft, and exoskeletons, including swarm concepts. His public code repositories reflect a pragmatic, performance-minded approach to real-time robotics problems.
