Top SchoolJoshua Marker is an experienced engineering leader with 11 years in software, known for scaling teams from literal startup scrappiness to mature, compliant organizations. He has driven large architectural transformations at UserTesting—partitioning monoliths into multi-tenant SOA, enabling global expansion, and implementing SOX/HIPAA/GDPR-ready processes—while now focusing on applied generative AI at Fractional AI. Joshua blends deep technical craft (mobile, backend, data engineering) with strategic product and M&A insight, having influenced acquisitions and built data platforms that unlocked ML products. He mentors climate-tech founders and contributes to climate research tools, reflecting a thread of mission-driven work alongside commercial engineering. Notably, his background in cognitive science research at UC Berkeley informs a rare perspective on language, modeling, and human-centered systems design. Based in San Francisco, he combines hands-on engineering with people development and cross-functional governance to deliver production-ready, auditable systems.
