Top SchoolJoy Hou is a Senior Software Engineer in Seattle with 10 years of cross-functional experience building scalable full-stack systems, particularly in JavaScript, Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, PHP, and a range of AWS technologies. She has driven measurable improvements at Amazon—halving tail latency, cutting EC2 costs by 25%, and raising resiliency for a 50K TPS service—while also leading teams as a scrum leader and mentoring peers. Comfortable translating fast-changing business needs into production-quality features, she’s built end-to-end services, microservices, notification systems, and data-ingest pipelines for high-throughput environments. Her background as an attorney and mortgage consultant informs a pragmatic, compliance-aware approach to product design and client communication. Outside work she’s an adventurous dancer and educator who brings curiosity and empathy to technical leadership.
