Top SchoolJuan Vargas is an Analytical Research Assistant and senior Computer Science student (Software Engineering concentration) at CSUMB with a decade of hands-on experience applying data-driven solutions in agricultural production. He develops and validates NIR prediction models deployed across seven Monterey Mushrooms facilities in the US and Mexico, pairing statistical techniques like linear regression with WET chemistry validation and seasonal recalibration. Comfortable across the stack, he programs in Python, JavaScript/Node.js, manages Oracle/MS SQL/MySQL databases, automates API-to-CSV/SQL pipelines, and visualizes results with Oracle Analytics, Qlik Sense and Plotly. He also trains and oversees on-site lab and remote NIR technicians, authors SOPs, and translates technical outputs into actionable guidance for farm managers and growers. A Udacity Full Stack Nanodegree and real-world instrumentation experience give him a rare blend of field-level lab practice and software engineering applied to precision agriculture.
