Top SchoolJulian Pömp is a software engineer and wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter with nine years of experience building full-stack web applications, primarily using Angular/TypeScript, Node.js, PHP and C#. Based in Munich, he combines academic research in media informatics with practical engineering at LMU’s Institute for Phonetics and Speech Processing, where he evolved OCTRA from his bachelor’s project into widely used transcription tools. He designs user-focused platforms—like a cross-platform OCTRA-BACKEND and a Raspberry Pi minimal working deployment—that prioritize simple installation, offline ASR via OpenAI Whisper, and real-world workflow gains. Earlier work includes PHP/WordPress plugins and a photo-importing platform that materially increased operational efficiency for his employer. An active open-source contributor, he quickly reads and extends others’ code and maintains a catalogue of public projects on GitHub. He’s driven by continuous learning and applying up-to-date technologies to bridge research and production-grade software.
