Junichi Tokuda is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School with 18 years of experience developing image-guided therapy systems that bridge research and clinical care. He designs and tests MRI-compatible robots, navigation software, and needle-guide manipulators for MR-guided procedures, and currently leads an NIH R01 to build a network communication interface for image-guided therapy. A hands-on developer and back-end contributor to the widely used OpenIGTLink project, he has extended its polydata support and video streaming capabilities to enable richer intraoperative data exchange. Trained with a Ph.D. from The University of Tokyo, he combines deep technical expertise with practical clinical validation, routinely translating prototyped technologies into tools used in the MRI suite.
