Top SchoolJyrki Laurila is a Senior Software Engineer II based in San Francisco with 14 years of hands-on experience building scalable web and API platforms and over a decade specializing in JavaScript ecosystems. He has led content and API architecture at scale—designing HLS streaming pipelines and microservices that serve millions—while also owning cross-service asset/fund integrations and complex payroll processes for 401(k) plans. A certified ScrumMaster and seasoned project manager, he excels at coordinating distributed teams across timezones and breaking cultural and linguistic barriers to deliver large integrations and migrations. Technically versatile, Jyrki has built custom JS frameworks, shipped production systems across Node, PHP, Python, Qt/QML and extensive front-end stacks, and driven security and compliance efforts like SOC2 and GDPR. Known as a “coding perfectionist,” he balances attention to detail with pragmatic simplicity and mentorship, frequently leading API chapter practices and on-call reliability improvements. His breadth—from low-level performance tuning to end-to-end content delivery—makes him a go-to engineer for both architecture and execution.
