Karim Shaban is a Perception & Navigation lead with 12 years of experience applying computer vision and machine learning to autonomous systems, currently building vision and motion stacks for humanoid robots at Humanoid. He previously drove mapping, calibration and large-scale 3D vision projects at Woven by Toyota and Lyft, including an automatic label-less calibration system and SfM-based map reconstruction pipelines. Karim combines hands-on research engineering with product-facing delivery—spanning sensor fusion, localisation, and data validation/auto-labeling for safety-critical platforms. He holds a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence from TUM and started his career developing centimetre-accurate city-scale maps and real-time UAV tracking, giving him a rare depth across both mobile and robotic perception. Colleagues describe him as a pragmatic technical lead who moves systems from prototypes to robust cross-functional deployments.
