Top SchoolKathryn Gonzalez is a design-oriented engineering leader with 11 years of experience building design systems, UI tooling, and accessible product interfaces for fast-growing startups and major platforms. Currently Senior Engineering Manager for UI Foundation at Airbnb, she previously led Design Infrastructure at DoorDash where she built the frontend stack, hiring processes, and cross-functional teams that scaled design and engineering collaboration. Kathryn blends hands-on engineering (React, CSS Modules, Swift, Node, Ruby) with product design and prototyping, and has a track record of turning brand and interaction ideas into resilient component libraries and developer tooling. She also advises and invests in early-stage startups through Makeshift Labs, helping teams establish design-engineering practices and ship faster. Colleagues know her as @ryngonzalez online—a designer-engineer who intentionally lives in the gap between pixels and production.
