Top SchoolKenya Tamura is a GIS education leader and founder with 11 years of experience applying geographic information science to school informatization and curriculum design. As President and CEO of Eukarya Inc. since 2017, he builds FOSS4G-based GIS education systems for junior high and high schools, translating complex spatial tools into classroom-ready learning. His background blends academic rigor—PhD studies at The University of Tokyo and Tokyo Metropolitan University—with hands-on roles as a GIS evangelist and research assistant. Active in the nonprofit sphere (Inoshachu, CrisisMappers Japan), he brings practical disaster-mapping and community engagement experience to education projects. Known for making open-source spatial tech accessible to educators, he bridges research, product development, and outreach in Kitakyushu. An underappreciated strength is his ability to package advanced GIS workflows into simple, teachable modules that scale across school settings.
