Top SchoolKillian Smith is a back-end developer and computational biologist with 9 years of experience building production software and state-of-the-art research tools across industry and academia. He has designed and implemented novel systems ranging from a category-theory-inspired graph database to higher-order and mixture Markov models in RevBayes for Bayesian phylogenetics. Skilled in probabilistic modeling, MCMC, and data engineering, he bridges rigorous research (GeoBio-Center, Era7) with pragmatic backend development (RavenPack, Do IT Now). As an educator he has taught data structures and compilers, reinforcing clear technical communication and curriculum design. Based in Algeciras, Spain, he combines deep statistical thinking with practical systems implementation, often tackling problems at the intersection of evolutionary biology and scalable data infrastructure. Colleagues value his curiosity-driven approach and ability to translate mathematical ideas into reliable software.
