Top SchoolKirk Roerig is an AR/VR software engineer with 14 years of hands-on experience building real-time, embedded, and perception-driven systems for both startups and defense and consumer tech leaders. Currently at Apple and founder of Protean Technologies, he blends low-level firmware and embedded Linux work with machine perception and edge computing—previous roles include shaping perception stacks at Anduril and spacecraft flight software at Advanced Space. He has led robotics and autonomy projects (IMU/LiDAR, Kalman filters, control systems) and adapted high-performance graphics engines for multi-display and mobile OpenGL uses. Based in Loveland, Colorado, Kirk favors multidisciplinary, physics-grounded systems that have agency in the real world, and his background shows a consistent pattern of simplifying complex systems for reuse and testability. An entrepreneurial tinkerer at heart, he pairs product-focused engineering with a curiosity for pixels, bits and bots.
