Kj Schmidt is a software engineer and UX designer based in Minneapolis with a decade of experience blending human-centered design and technical implementation. Rooted in a childhood surrounded by the Mayo Clinic, Kj brings a rare fluency in translating complex scientific and medical information into accessible, visually clear interfaces. Trained in genetics, cell biology, and art at the University of Minnesota, they pair rigorous scientific literacy with interaction, information architecture, and visual design to advocate for users across product, document, and systems design. Currently finishing a master’s in UX, Kj focuses on user advocacy and cognitive-driven solutions, and maintains a portfolio of work that emphasizes clarity and communication. Outside of work they’re as likely to be found hiking or hunting down the best dessert and coffee as they are refining a microinteraction or information flow.
