Senior🎓
Top SchoolKurt Larsen is a senior database engineer with 11 years of hands-on experience building, tuning, and automating MySQL and PostgreSQL environments across on-prem and cloud platforms. He specializes in automation (Ansible), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Packer), and high-availability tooling like ProxySQL, Orchestrator and Percona XtraDB, and has led test-lab and migration efforts at companies such as DigitalOcean, Groupon and USA TODAY NETWORK. Kurt blends deep systems and networking roots with practical security and operational know-how, having modernized deployments, authored backup and provisioning scripts, and introduced Ansible where teams lacked automation. Comfortable across Linux/FreeBSD and cloud providers (AWS, GCP), he also writes Golang tooling to streamline DB administration and RDS operations. Based in Las Vegas, he’s driven by a “Automate Everything” ethos and a particular passion for MySQL performance and non-blocking schema change strategies.
