Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolKurtiss Hare is a senior software engineer with 16 years of experience building reliable systems across startups and large platforms, currently shaping smart-home software at Deako Smart Lighting. He combines deep hands-on engineering (Netflix, playhaven CTO) with product and operational leadership, having co-founded PlayHaven and scaled The Nightlight Cinema from a monthly program into a full-time cultural venue. Based in Seattle but rooted in Cleveland and San Francisco, he blends engineering rigour with entrepreneurial instinct and community-focused projects like KinoArts. Comfortable across the stack, Kurtiss brings a track record of shipping production software, mentoring teams, and turning informal ventures into sustainable operations. An idiosyncratic mix of software, cinema, and left-leaning civic-mindedness informs his approach to building tech that serves people.
