Senior🎓
Top SchoolKyri Vanderpoel is a Systems Development Engineer with a decade of experience building and automating resilient cloud infrastructure at AWS, specializing in Python-driven automation, Infrastructure as Code, and PKI/DNS management. They have driven large-scale, low-risk migrations (14,000+ domains and thousands of DNS zones), eliminated 1,000+ hours/year of manual work with domain validation tooling, and reduced critical DB recovery time from hours to minutes. Kyri routinely designs cross-region extensible services across 32+ AWS regions using CDK and pushes teams toward test-driven IaC practices while mentoring engineers on operational excellence. Comfortable across Python, Ruby, Typescript and increasingly Go for parallelization tasks, they blend SRE rigor with software craftsmanship to harden services and improve observability. Outside of work they channel systems thinking into running tabletop RPGs and tending a backyard food forest, a hint at their patience for long-running, emergent systems. Based in Port Orchard, WA, Kyri is a pragmatic problem-solver who favors automating toil and proving fixes with measurable operational impact.
