Laurent Cohen is a technical lead and longtime Java-centric software engineer with over nine years at IBM driving real-time event processing and decisioning platforms, currently leading the Automation Decision Services Runtime for Kubernetes and SaaS deployments. He combines enterprise product development experience (ODM Decision Server Insights, Mobile Platform) with deep open-source cred as the founder and principal author of JPPF, a high-performance Java grid that scales to thousands of nodes. Laurent is equally at home architecting distributed systems, performance-sensitive code, and developer tooling, and he brings hands-on expertise in OSGi, WebSphere Liberty, and data grid technologies. He has a proven track record of designing for scalability, fault tolerance, dynamic reconfiguration and secure communications, honed both in commercial products and in production-grade open-source software. Based in Normandy, France, he pairs technical leadership with community stewardship—maintaining JPPF’s roadmap, releases, documentation and user support. An enduring self-described geek, he values teaching and collaborative problem solving as much as building infrastructure-grade software.
