Lennart Hilbert is an interdisciplinary systems biology professor and research group leader with 11 years of experience bridging developmental cell biology, biophysics and computational bioinformatics. Based at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology after postdoctoral work at two Max Planck institutes and a PhD from McGill, he studies the cell nucleus as inspiration for novel DNA-computing architectures. He combines hands-on quantitative modeling and wet-lab insight to translate biological principles into computational system design. As a tenure-track-turned-full professor he directs research, mentors trainees, and builds cross-disciplinary collaborations across physics and biology. Notably, his work frames subcellular organization not just as biology to be explained but as engineering patterns to be harnessed for future computing hardware.
