Summary
👤
SeniorLuca Surace is a PhD-trained visual computing researcher and software engineer with nine years of experience building perceptually driven graphics and vision systems for academia and industry. He has led research on content-optimization for next-generation displays during his doctoral work and brought that expertise to R&D roles at Google XR and Disney Research, working at the intersection of computational photography, AR/VR, and perceptual quality. His background spans computer vision, deep learning for facial expression and biomedical imaging, and embedded SLAM for inspection robotics, showing a strong ability to translate research into applied systems. Based in Zurich, he combines rigorous academic training with hands-on product-focused internships and research deployments, often exploring how human perception can guide algorithmic efficiency. An underappreciated strength is his track record of moving between long-term PhD projects and short, impact-driven industry internships, making him effective at quickly integrating novel research into real-world prototypes.
