Lucas Amaral
Engineering Manager at Lyft
Hamburg, Germany
Summary
👤
SeniorLucas Amaral is an Engineering Manager based in Hamburg with nine years of hands-on experience leading mobile and backend teams across mobility and fintech products. Currently at FREE NOW, he combines strong Android expertise (Kotlin, MVVM, CI) with prior tech lead roles where he drove architecture, delivery processes, and OKR-aligned roadmaps for apps used by over a million users. He has repeatedly bridged product and engineering—designing mobile architectures from scratch, mentoring teams, and defining build/delivery pipelines to raise quality and speed. Comfortable across stacks (Python, Go, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL) and early-stage product work, he brings entrepreneurial instincts from founding a software company to scaling production systems at larger organizations. Notably, his career includes spotting security issues proactively and reducing operational costs through practical engineering fixes, underscoring a bias for impact beyond code.
