Summary
Luis Leite is a multidisciplinary academic and practitioner based in Porto who bridges computer programming, HCI and digital animation, with a Ph.D. in Digital Media from UT Austin/UPorto. With roots in building BBS systems in 1990, he evolved into a creative technologist contributing to Emmy-selected TV and award-nominated short films, and now leads multimedia education and research as Professor Coordenador and master’s program coordinator at ESMAD. He combines hands-on skills in 2D/3D animation, digital puppetry, post-production and sound design with technical roles in systems and network administration from earlier industry positions. An active researcher and organizer—directing MAD Gamejam and Intermediartes—he keeps one foot in experimental practice and the other in curriculum and project management. Unusually for an academic, he maintains a visible creative portfolio (grifu.com and Vimeo) that reflects a long-standing blend of mythic imagination and technical craft.
