Maharshi Pathak is a research-focused engineer with eight years of experience applying data-driven methods to decarbonize buildings and improve occupant comfort. Currently a PhD candidate and Research Assistant at Northeastern, he designs cyber-physical systems and deploys real-time monitoring in occupied homes, combining Home Assistant integrations, GCP, MariaDB and Plotly Dash to translate human behavior into actionable control strategies. Previously a Research Engineer at NREL and a Master’s graduate from ASU, he specializes in stock-level energy modeling, HVAC algorithm development, and machine learning for sustainable built environments. He has hands-on field experience running multi-home studies and creating protocols for human–building interaction that enable demand flexibility. Comfortable bridging academia, lab, and field deployment, he brings both simulation and production-grade software skills to energy analytics problems. Colleagues describe him as methodical and pragmatic—equally at ease building models as rolling out the sensors and cloud pipelines that validate them.
