Summary
🤩
RockstarMakenna Smutz is a product-focused design engineer and repeat founder with eight years of experience building polished frontend experiences, design systems, and data-heavy UIs. Based in New York, she blends hands-on engineering (TypeScript, React, Next.js) with product design, having single-handedly designed, prototyped, and shipped apps and marketing sites across multiple startups. She’s built and scaled bespoke design systems—authoring 65+ components, Storybook docs, and Figma tooling—that moved internal teams to full adoption and enabled open-source growth. Beyond core product work she runs consumer ventures (an organic cotton candy e-commerce and a specialty coffee subscription), showing a knack for turning design sensibilities into tangible brands. Colleagues describe her as the go-to person for polishing UX down to micro-interactions while keeping engineering and product processes humming.
