Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolMalcolm Baig is a senior freelance software developer based in London with over a decade of experience building Ruby and Rails applications for startups, large enterprises and UK government departments. He specialises in delivering fast, stable and maintainable web systems—from rapid MVPs to large-scale production services—and has repeatedly improved performance and developer productivity (including 10–20x response-time gains and dramatic test-suite speedups). His public-sector work includes designing OIDC integrations and launching several teacher-facing services at the Department for Education, and he has led cross-project upgrades and CI migrations across 40+ projects. Comfortable across the full stack, Malcolm pairs pragmatic engineering with clear communication, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with designers and product teams. An analytical problem-solver, he uses traffic analysis and load-testing to anticipate real-world scale rather than relying on guesswork.
