Top SchoolManuel Sommerhalder is an Optical Design Engineer with 12 years of hands-on experience in photonics and system engineering, currently developing optical solutions at ESPROS Photonics AG. Trained as a system technician and holding a BSc in Photonics from NTB Buchs, he blends practical hardware know-how with rigorous optical design skills. His early work in basic research and robotics at Hamilton Bonaduz AG included bringing a new product through to series production, evidencing strong end-to-end development capability. Based in Grisons, Switzerland, he is comfortable at the interface of research and manufacturing, turning lab concepts into production-ready designs. Known for a thoughtful, deliberate approach—“think twice, code once”—he favors robust, well-considered solutions over quick fixes. Colleagues value his mix of theoretical depth in physics and applied engineering pragmatism.
