Senior🎓
Top SchoolMarc Burton is an Engineering Manager with 11 years of hands-on and leadership experience building full-stack, cloud-native systems and shepherding teams through microservice, event-driven, and DevOps transformations. He combines pragmatic architecture—favoring simple, maintainable solutions—with a metrics-driven approach to improve delivery speed and quality, including kanban, cycle-time SLAs and Theory of Constraints practices. A strong advocate of XP, TDD, pair programming and functional paradigms, he fosters team-first cultures that emphasize mastery, autonomy and reduced cognitive load so engineers can own production systems from day one. He has led cross-functional organisations at Wealth Wizards and now Zoopla, steering product-aligned objectives, platform vision and secure, observable production services. Comfortable across languages and paradigms, he balances short-term delivery value with the long-term cost of change and is known for translating strong, conflicting technical opinions into productive decisions.
