Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolMarcelo Wiebbelling is a Principal Software Engineer with over 15 years of hands-on experience and a 20+ year relationship with software craftsmanship, currently leading the re-architecture of Jumbo’s platform from monolith to AWS-deployed microservices. He blends deep Java and Spring Boot expertise with practical cloud-native skills—Kubernetes, Docker, AWS services, Redis, Aurora—and a strong testing and CI/CD mindset (JUnit, Mockito, GitHub Actions/GitLab CI). Known for mentoring teams, raising engineering standards (Java Guild initiatives) and rigorous code reviews, he’s equally comfortable optimizing SQL and reducing infrastructure costs as he is designing resilient distributed systems. His background spans high-scale IoT/energy platforms and healthcare services, where TDD, pair programming and measurable performance improvements were routine. Off the obvious path, he’s an advocate of deleting cruft—preferring lean, well-tested code over feature bloat—to make software that genuinely improves people’s lives.
