Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolMario Fortier is a founder and seasoned software engineer with 20+ years building scalable, high-availability network and real-time systems—predominantly in C++—and a history of shipping performance-critical products from demos to production. He invented a patented real-time packet compression algorithm first deployed in a live 3G network and later acquired by Citrix, and has repeatedly solved bottlenecks that unlocked cluster-scale gains at Riverbed. Equally comfortable as a hands-on developer and team lead, he thrives on iterative delivery under uncertainty, using benchmarking, profiling and pragmatic prototypes to steer design. More recently he’s bridged Web2 and Web3, founding suibase.io (a Sui Foundation grant recipient) and operating top-tier Sui/Walrus storage nodes while expanding into Rust and Sui Move for decentralized storage and CDN work. Based in Greater Boston, he blends deep low-level expertise (SSE/AVX, PowerQuicc, Octeon) with full-stack tooling across Linux, cloud, and web stacks, and maintains a long-standing commitment to open source.
