Mark Volz
Geospatial Lead
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Summary
👤
SeniorMark Volz is a Geospatial Lead with 11+ years of experience designing and delivering spatial information systems for utilities, national infrastructure and environmental clients. He architects end-to-end solutions—from AWS/Azure migrations and automated data pipelines to mobile field apps and B2B spatial interfaces—turning complex network and cadastral data into fit-for-use information. At Downer and nbn™ he led implementations that automated transformations, distributed national spatial datasets via web services, and delivered dashboards that improved operational decision-making. He blends hands-on development (Python automation, GIS-CAD integrations) with team leadership, having built and coached cross-functional teams and run his own contracting business. A frequent conference presenter, he communicates the business and financial benefits of good data practices and has a side interest in data visualization and computational art that informs his approach to mapping and UX. Based in Melbourne, he excels at bridging technical, operational and stakeholder needs to make spatial data actionable.
