Top SchoolMark Zlamal is a Senior Enterprise Architect based in Ottawa with eight years of formal experience and a two-decade technical career spanning cloud, databases, and systems engineering. Currently at Cockroach Labs, he focuses on cloud and database architecture, translating distributed systems capabilities into enterprise-ready solutions. Previously at IBM he combined public cloud advocacy with hands‑on analytical application development, showcasing a blend of pre-sales, solution engineering, and product architecture. His background includes low-level game and embedded systems work—credited on a commercial title—which gives him an unusual depth in performance-sensitive engineering and tooling. With a BCS in Computer Science and a private pilot license, he pairs methodical technical thinking with a pilot’s disciplined approach to complex system operations.
