Top SchoolMartin Schaer is a solutions engineer and former founder with 12+ years building full-stack web products, ML-enabled cloud tools, and lab automation systems. Currently at SurrealDB and leading a stealth GenAI startup, he combines database-minded engineering with hands-on systems work—most recently creating a declarative instrument-driver framework and a 3D digital twin to validate robotic lab transport. His background spans founding a successful Costa Rica advertising agency, architecting SaaS multimedia pipelines (including Nitram, an open-source Rust + TypeScript websockets library), and leading web and UX teams at scale. Comfortable across Rust, Python, TypeScript, and cloud video workflows, he bridges product, tooling, and customer success with an entrepreneur’s mindset. Outside work he contributes to open source, explores Rust “side quests,” and builds and flies FPV drones, bringing a maker’s curiosity to complex engineering problems.
