Maruf Sherefa
Software Engineer
Summary
Maruf Sherefa is a Senior Backend Developer with six years of experience building high-performance systems using Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and Go, and shipping production web apps with React. He designs scalable APIs, optimizes databases (Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL), and automates delivery with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Maruf blends ML/NLP and AI-assisted features into real products, bringing practical ML integrations rather than just prototypes. He has led education initiatives at A2SV while concurrently contributing hands-on to frontend and backend projects, demonstrating a rare mix of technical depth and people leadership. Based in Addis Ababa, he’s known for clean architectures and pragmatic problem-solving—his GitHub motto “It just works” reflects a focus on reliable, maintainable systems.
