Senior🎓
Top SchoolMary Bucknell is a seasoned software developer with 11 years focused on delivering accessible, user-centered web applications and services from Madison, Wisconsin. At USGS she blends front-end craftsmanship (HTML5/CSS3/SASS, ES6, Leaflet, D3) with Python/Flask back ends, test-driven practices, and automated CI/CD to make geospatial and water-data visualizations broadly usable and 508-compliant. Earlier work on mission-critical command-and-control systems and embedded test equipment gives her deep experience in maintainable, reusable interfaces and rigorous testing. As a senior developer and technical lead she mentors teammates, drives coding standards and testing coverage, and treats UX as an iterative process with end users. She’s comfortable spanning legacy languages and modern stacks—Ada and Motif to modern Java Spring Boot and Redux—bringing pragmatic engineering discipline to complex, data-rich public-facing projects.
