Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolMat Johnson is a seasoned interaction designer and design lead with over a decade of hands-on experience crafting simple, usable digital services across government and healthcare, currently shaping prevention services at NHS England. He combines a strong grounding in front-end development and prototyping with strategic product and service thinking, routinely moving between live production environments and exploratory discovery work. Known for mentoring teams and embedding design practice across squads, Mat has led high-profile projects such as 111 online and urgent & emergency care digital services, guiding them through GDS service standards and live assessments. Tool-agnostic and technically fluent, he spans code, design systems, service manuals, and cross-product strategy to deliver coherent experiences at scale. Based in Horsham, he brings a pragmatic “multitool” mentality—able to zoom from pixel-level interactions to high-altitude policy-informed service design.
