Matiss Ozols is a software engineer and bioinformatician with nine years of experience building scalable, reproducible computational platforms that turn petabyte-scale genomics, proteomics, and single-cell data into actionable biological insights. With a PhD in bioinformatics and a background in medical engineering, he architects Nextflow/Docker-based pipelines and hybrid HPC/cloud workflows used in multi-institution studies spanning Cambridge, Manchester, and Leicester. He has led large eQTL, colocalisation and pathway analyses that feed target discovery and biomarker programs, and his work has produced translational outcomes including patents and commercial product impact. Equally at home mentoring teams and delivering production software, Matiss combines wet-lab literacy with expertise in AI/ML for functional genomics to bridge research and engineering. Now contributing at Isomorphic Labs and the Wellcome Sanger Institute, he focuses on building platforms that scale discovery and de-risk therapeutic hypotheses for patient impact. An early project background in medical imaging and signal processing gives him an unusually broad view of data integration across modalities.
