Top SchoolMatt Freed is a founder-engineer with a decade of experience building hardware-enabled AI startups from concept to product in the Bay Area. He co-founded K-Scale Labs (YC, Techstars, AI Grant) and led hardware development, and now runs a stealth venture after serving as CEO of Malamute. Trained as a mechanical engineer with a computer science graduate degree from Cornell Tech, he blends embedded systems, controls, and software to ship complex electromechanical systems. His background includes software engineering at General Dynamics Electric Boat and multiple aerostructures and hydraulics internships at Sikorsky, reflecting deep systems-level thinking. Matt’s profile suggests a bias for physical productization of ML and automation — comfortable iterating between CAD, firmware, and cloud stacks. Based in San Francisco, he pairs founder grit with multidisciplinary technical fluency to move prototypes into scalable offerings.
