Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolMatt Lilley is a physicist-turned-builder who blends a decade of fusion and nonlinear dynamics research with hands-on product and teaching experience. He holds a PhD in plasma physics from Imperial College, discovered a new tokamak instability, published extensively, and later founded Level 8 to self-fund research while teaching himself software development to ship a cross-platform app. Matt now balances cutting-edge nucleonics research with the Anthropocene Institute and practical tech education—leading workshops on AI, blockchain and quantum computing for non-technical leaders. He has a track record of turning rigorous theory into usable tools (including open-source Matlab code adopted by labs) and of scaling complex ideas into teachable, applied outcomes. Unafraid to learn or build what doesn’t exist, he pairs deep academic credibility with entrepreneurial grit and effective public-facing communication.
