Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolMatteo Varvello is a networking researcher and entrepreneur with 11+ years of experience building systems and protocols across top-tier labs (Technicolor, Bell Labs, Telefónica, AT&T) and startups. He blends deep academic training (PhD-level networking) with hands-on product and CI engineering from his time at Brave and as co-founder of TAPPAS, a platform for large-scale mobile app testing. His research spans peer-to-peer, information-centric and software-defined networking, video/VR, packet processing and web/mobile performance, and he focuses on solutions with global reach. Returning to Bell Labs in 2020, he aims to bridge research and startup creation, leveraging direct exposure to VCs and product management. Outside work he applies AI to sports tech through iswim.dev, a platform for analyzing competitive swimming video. This mix of rigorous systems research, startup execution, and practical AI projects gives him rare fluency in taking networked innovations from lab prototypes to real-world products.
