Summary
👤
SeniorMatthew Franglen is a Staff Machine Learning Engineer in the UK with 13 years of experience building scalable data systems and production ML at Brandwatch. He designs and deploys customized NLP and computer vision models in Python using transformers, spaCy, PyTorch and scikit-learn, and has engineered deployment patterns (Docker, AWS AMIs) and a reusable packaging library to take models from research to billion-document production workloads. His background in data infrastructure and site reliability—managing HBase, Hadoop, Solr and massive data migrations—means he optimizes for cost and reliability as well as accuracy, once cutting monthly inference costs by over $10,000. Comfortable across Java, Scala and cloud services, he blends hands-on model engineering with systems-level thinking and a track record of mentoring teams and building internal tooling that accelerates data science delivery.
