Top SchoolMatthew Lawson is a technical consultant based in Stockholm with 11 years of experience bridging experimental physics and applied engineering, currently advising clients through Savantic AB. He previously led the ALPHA collaboration as spokesperson and co-inventor of a novel axion dark matter detector, managing fast-paced teams across modeling, device fabrication, and multi-million euro grant proposals. His background spans NMR, superconducting microwave devices, accelerator and AMO physics, and hands-on lab operations from pulsed lasers to magnet stability, plus teaching university-level physics. Comfortable with big-data pipelines (experiments producing gigabytes per second), he pairs deep theoretical skills—including quantum field calculations—with the ability to explain complex results to non-specialists. He holds a PhD from UC Davis, a US government security clearance, and practical fluency in international logistics and cross-cultural engagement gained from large, multinational collaborations. Outside work he still finds time to sail, reflecting a taste for technically demanding yet freeing pursuits.
