Summary
👤
SeniorMatthew Lloyd is a Staff Software Engineer and technical architect with 13 years of experience building and decomposing large-scale systems, currently leading monolith decomposition efforts at Kraken from Salford, UK. He has progressed from hands-on interactive and Flash development to leading engineering teams and shaping shared services, combining deep backend expertise (Scala and JVM ecosystems) with practical architecture and delivery skills. At ThoughtWorks he operated as a principal consultant, advising on complex systems and coaching teams, and previously ran development and client-facing pitching as Lead Developer at Magnetic North for high-traffic, multimedia projects. He blends day-to-day coding with strategic responsibilities—estimating, solution design, and acting as Scrum Master—so he’s comfortable switching between heads-down implementation and stakeholder-facing architecture work. Notably, his background spans both low-level interactive systems and large distributed services, giving him a rare perspective on system design, performance and user-facing experience.
